On August 16, 2018, Amalia Chartier passed away in her home surrounded by family after losing a reoccurring battle with cancer. She returned home to her late mother, Susanna, and father, Roy. She was reunited with her late brother, Roy, and sister, Gloria, and joined Gregory Chartier in eternal peace. Amalia is survived by her daughters, Lisa, Jolene, and Loretta, her granddaughter Gloria, her godson, Sebastiano, and his mother, Melissa. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters, Marie (Fred), Susie (late Robert), Belen (late Miroslav), Bacilio (Terri), Jessie, and Shirley (Mike). She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be missed but her legacy will last forever. Amalia was the first person to offer help to those in need, even if she had nothing to give besides a home-cooked meal, decadent desserts, and a place to sleep.. She loved to bake and was often referred to as the candy lady, since she always had some sort of candy near her.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 12-2 PM at Witkowiak Funeral Home (529 W. Historic Mitchell St. Milwaukee WI 53204). Per Amalia’s request, there will be a memorial picnic at Humboldt Park (picnic area 1) to follow.
